The inspiration that drove this design was “making soup!” My client wanted a kitchen that invited her family and guests into a warm space filled with the delicious aroma of the soup that she had lovingly made for them. So the kitchen remodel journey began. The existing kitchen needed to be enlarged and modernized. More space was provided by shrinking the adjacent laundry room and removing several walls. Not only was the kitchen enlarged but two magnificent views were now available from the kitchen. Voila! People came into the kitchen.

The correct usage of cabinetry can make a tremendous difference to the function and enjoyment of a kitchen. Attention was given to special pieces of furniture that my client treasured. The butcher block table, modern stool, and pine antiques were considered in the kitchen layout. Pine antiques were mixed with the new cabinetry blending the old with the new while bringing harmony to the house. A pine armoire was redesigned to be used as the pantry. The cabinets had internal features that added ease of use for any age such as pull out shelves, drawers for pots and pans, pull out storage units with full visibility of their contents, and lazy susans were inserted in the base corner units.

Combining the old with the new creates a comfortable environment filled with fond memories of food, family, and friends.
